Workio comes to iPhone and iPad

Workio started on Android, where it grew to thirteen document types. From today it is on iPhone and iPad too, downloadable from the App Store. This is not a rushed port made to be present: it is native code that shares the same domain core with the Android version, so the rules about what a quote is and how it becomes an invoice are literally the same.

Native, and on the same core

The interface is SwiftUI and the code is Swift: no web page dressed up as an app. Underneath sits WorkioCore, a package that brings the Kotlin domain layer over to Swift — the same document types, the same states, the same permitted transitions. Thirteen types in all: quote, proforma, invoice, credit note, receipt, payment reminder, contract, delivery note, order, price list, expense report, account statement and service report, the last one with timed work sessions. It needs iOS 17, runs on iPhone and iPad, and ships in eighteen languages.

Coming from Android? Your archive comes with you

A Workio backup is one password-encrypted file, and the format is byte-compatible between Android and iOS: a backup taken on the phone restores on the iPad, and the other way round. It holds more than the list of documents — your logo, your signature and every other attachment live as data inside the same archive, so moving that one file takes everything. One honest caveat: this is backup and restore, not continuous sync. The two devices do not update each other while you work.

A hundred styles, and a PDF that stays a PDF

The document type decides the structure; the style decides the look, and there are one hundred styles — from classic to minimal, from a top rule to a full frame, through serif and monospaced typographic variants. You pick one per business and it applies to everything you export. One thing worth stating plainly, because it changes who this is for: Workio produces business documents as PDFs and is not an e-invoicing platform. What it calls an invoice is a PDF, not a file filed with a tax authority.

What is free and what is not

Downloading it is free, and with no subscription you get five documents a month on three base templates, with local PDF export and sharing through the system's own channels. Pro costs €6.99 a year — annual only, with a seven-day trial — and opens up unlimited documents, all one hundred styles, encrypted cloud backup, several businesses on one account and PDFs without a watermark. It also unlocks share links the customer can sign: the link carries the SHA-256 fingerprint of the PDF, so whoever receives it can check the file has not been altered.
