Lalo Academy is now on Google Play

Lalo Academy is on Google Play. It has been on the App Store since late August: from today the same app is on both stores, for children aged 6 to 9.

Twelve subjects, two open from the start

Times tables, column arithmetic, word problems read aloud, dictation, numbers, the clock, money, shapes, the calendar, measures, coding and charts. Times tables and numbers are open without paying and without a time limit: they are not a trial, they are two whole subjects. The other ten open with a single purchase — no subscription.

Times tables are not a guessing game

The answer is typed on a keypad, not picked from four options: guessing gets you nowhere. The app quietly measures how long the child takes, and a fact moves up a level only when the answer is right <b>and</b> fast. There is no timer on screen, though, because a countdown mostly teaches anxiety. On a wrong answer the correct one is shown, and that fact comes back after two exercises — not at the end of the session.

No advertising, and you can see it in the code

There is no advertising library in the project. The Android manifest does not merely refrain from asking for the advertising ID permission: it <b>removes</b> it explicitly, so it cannot creep back in through a third-party dependency. The grown-ups' area — settings, progress, purchase — sits behind a sum a six-year-old cannot do yet.

Two stores, two names, one app

On Google Play it is called <b>Tabelline e Dettato</b>, on the App Store <b>Tabelline e Matematica</b>: two titles chosen to be found in each store's search, not two different versions. The name stays Lalo Academy. The app speaks seventeen languages and runs on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Where to get it

On Google Play and on the App Store, free. A single purchase opens the other ten subjects.
